My match report:

Gordon's new season got a welcome kick-start with a convincing first-innings win over Blacktown at Killara Oval on the October long weekend.
Winning the toss and electing to bat on a flat pitch, new opener Craig Simmons took control of the match with a fine knock of 143. Well-supported by Damon Livermore in the first session before the experienced Livermore was run out after lunch, Simmons showed the Gordon side his value as a new recruit.
After Simmons' dismissal Blacktown fought back to take 5 wickets for 65 and slow the run-rate, but their fightback was undone in the last session when Ed Zelma, returning to the club after a 3-year absence, blasted an unbeaten 100 off just 64 balls.
Gordon's total of 7d/389 was always going to be beyond Blacktown, and despite a stubborn 8th-wicket partnership the result was never in doubt, captain Matthew Nicholson taking 4 wickets in Blacktown's total of 244. Gordon enforced the follow-on, but an outright was always going to be difficult to achieve and Blacktown struggled along to 3/85 before time ran out.

Another convincing display from Gordon yesterday when they took first innings points against Sutherland at Killara Oval.
In the 3rd over, the visitors lost 2 wickets to slump to 2/4 and never recovered. The pitch was greener and more bowler-friendly than most Killara tracks, but Sutherland's total of 146 was never going to be enough to trouble a Gordon side with plenty of batting talent.
I had to go at tea, but by then Gordon were well on their way to the win. After the break the score went up to 1/100 with James Packman recording a half-century. A late fightback by Sutherland saw Gordon dismissed for 194, but a 48 run lead will see Gordon looking for early wickets next Saturday to make an attempt at a rare outright.

Here's some pics I took at the game:
