I'm off sick from work today (I'll be OK, just a bit of a tummy upset this morning), so I've been watching. It mightn't be a bad toss for New Zealand to win. It's a good pitch and playing well, there doesn't seem to be any nasty features in it. Kasprowicz's 3rd over claimed a couple of wickets, including Fleming for a duck. But other than that, it's been a solid start for the Kiwis and if Sinclair or Styris can stick around they could be in line for a competitive total here.

With 5 out at tea, it looked like Australia would be batting tonight. But Jacob Oram's been hard to dislodge, and well done to him for frustrating the Australians in the last session. 250 isn't a lot of runs for a day's play - in recent years we've got used to well over 300. But it's given New Zealand some sort of chance, especially if the tail can stick around for a while tomorrow.

Well it's about time me the lazy so-called admin updated this thread and the site. Anyway, we won the Test by an innings. Well done to Clarkey & Gilly on their hundreds, and then that amazing last-wicket partnership by ooh-ah Glen McGrath and Dizzy. Great stuff. After that, the Kiwis folded like a pack of cards and we won by an innings. Too easy. ;D The 2nd Test starts in Adelaide on Friday.

Great double-century by Justin Langer in the 2nd Test. Plenty of runs from the other batsmen as well, but it was Langer's day yesterday. And bringing up the 200 with a huge 6 was unusual. So much for any nerves.

One more comment on the 2nd Test, this being posted on the Sunday night after the 3rd day. Why the hell did we not enforce the follow-on? We've got the Kiwis on the ropes, and we'd most likely have delivered the knockout blow well before tea tomorrow. Instead, it comes to the timing of a declaration - if it comes too early we give the Kiwis a chance of pinching the game, and if it comes too late and then the forecast rain on Tuesday comes it could be left as a draw. Australia don't get many tactical decisions wrong, but this one looks like a major boo-boo to me.
