Last year NSW played Queensland at TS and pulled a record crowd for domestic one-day cricket of over 24,000. This Saturday they'll be back there to play a day-nighter; and a big crowd is again expected. Although NSW have struggled in the one-day comp this year, they have been up there with the best of them in the first-class games; while Queensland are runaway leaders in both comps. Due to being called up for the Australian team, NSW will be without McGrath, Brett Lee, Clarke and Katich while Queensland will be missing Hayden, Symonds and Kasprowicz. But there'll still be plenty of talent on display in what promises to be a fascinating contest. I'll be at the game, looking forward to it.

For sure. One of the highlights in last year's game was NSW's Matthew Nicholson hitting a 6 that hit the ING sign and getting a nice cash jackpot for his efforts. Already this year we've seen WA's Jason Voges hit the sign at North Sydney. The hit the sign gimmick is a nice little money-spinner and adds more interest when a 6 is hit. They've got another comp, with some money up for grabs if any spectator catches a 6. But no player has ever hit a 6 to me, so I've never had the opportunity to demonstrate my perfect catching technique.

Far too easy for Queensland, who not only won but picked up the bonus point. The Bulls gambled early on by promoting Andy Bichel to number 3, but it paid off sensationally for them with Bichel picking up a quick-fire 50 to get the Queenslanders off to a flying start. It was a solid performance with the bat, with all batsmen scoring over 25 in the Bulls' total of 4/267. I always thought that total would be enough to win easily, and when the Blues crashed to 3/8 the result was already beyond doubt. Thornley scored 27, and then the inexperienced pair of second-gamer Ed Cowan and first-gamer James Packman came together. Cowan scored a half-century and Packman 33 to salvage some respectability to the scoreboard. But all the time, the run-rate required was increasing, and when Cowan and Packman were both run out within a couple of balls of each other the game was over. Anyway, here's some more pics I took at the game:
